Ugh.

In exactly twenty seven minutes, I’ll have been awake for 24 hours. It’s been a hell of a day at sea, sir. The last time I pulled an all-nighter, we danced til 4am, ate cheese fries at Denny’s and then slept the entire following day. My odds of a similar ending fall close to those of ever wearing those dancing heels again.

Pook went to the doctor at 1:30 this afternoon. We left two hours later with a diagnosis of Mononucleosis and Streptococcus A. She was one miserable punkin. I thought we had it handled, but, as it turned out, we did not. Pook and I just got to our room at the hospital after six hours in the emergency room.

There’s a crib in here, but it’s some crazy cross between a cage and a contamination tent. Pook wants absolutely nothing to do with it. Nope, not even for a minute. I finally asked for a recliner so I could hold her and get some sleep, so that’s the current status. You wouldn’t believe how the kid is snoring. It’s unnatural.

I’m trying to focus on the food versus the stuff I’m missing. I always make the kids heart shaped French toast for breakfast on Valentines Day – this will be my first in 11 years to miss it. And I can’t even think about what happens if we have to stay another night. Oy vey. I told you it was gonna be a day.

Happy Valentine’s Day to my forever valentine. She is literally the reason I’m still in this side of Heaven and I could not be more proud of the person she’s become. I love you always, Lissa Mine. You’re simply the best.

Love is in the air, people. But so is mononucleosis and streptococcus A, so stop all that kissing and wash your hands, ya filthy animals.

It’s dark in here but I need some earplugs.
